  • Web Browsing

  • Ilan Wolf recommends using a browser other than Internet Explorer.

Alternate browsers available via download (and the sites to download them from):

If you choose to stick with Internet Explorer, you should at least be running the latest version - Version 7 - which is more secuer than older versions.

If you start Internet Explorer and there is a standard Windows menu under the window title, odds are it is an older version. From the window's menu item list, click Help and then select About. If the version number in the "About Internet Explorer" popup window shows a number less than 7 as the version number, then the Internet Explorer you are running is out of date and should be upgraded to version 7.

You can download and install Internet Explorer version 7 through http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

    Adjusting Privacy Settings

    1. Go to Control Panel and select Internet Options (alternatively you can start Internet Explorer and select Internet Options from the Tools menu to bring up the Internet Options window).

    2. Optional: In the Privacy screen click “Turn on Pop-up Blocker (you will need to hold control to open new windows if you decide to do this.)

    3. (Note: This graphic shows the window you see if you are running Internet Explorer version 7. The Internet Options window for version 6 will be a little different from this: there will be no Popup Blocker option.)

    4. Go to the Programs tab, and click Manage Add-ons

    5. Delete or disable anything that isn’t from a source you trust.
