On Saturday May 19 2007, Ilan Woll gave a talk at the SCM Monthly Dinner
on the subject of Windows XP cleanup, optimization and tuning.
A summary of the information covered in his talk is available on this series of web pages.
Cleaning Up Windows XP - Startup Programs
- Clearing startup programs is desirable to avoid clogging your computer
on startup.
- Click Start, then Run, then type msconfig and click OK.
- Click on the tab marked Startup.

- Uncheck any items you don’t want included, generally if it isn’t a
program you use regularly, part of your antivirus, or produced by your
computer manufacturer, then dump them.
- Reboot, check the box to avoid having the window pop up each time.
